tummy time

Olivia is getting SO good at tummy time now! She is getting super good at rolling from her back to her tummy too. She does it so much that she gets angry after she rolls- like "why am I on my tummy?!" John was getting ready this morning and I heard Olivia fussing in the living room. Sure enough she was angry she was on her tummy. I put her on her back and she slips so quickly! I wish she would remember how to roll back onto her back! Here she is a couple days ago. I finally realized that if I shake a rattle in the air she will look up better!

Olivia's new trick!

Sitting looking up at daddy. (she only does it for a few seconds, but this night she did it for quite a while!)

working girl

So I ended up working Wednesday night after first getting a mandatory, then not... then I get there and I am only working 6 hours. woo-hoo! I wasn't going to shoot that option down. 6 hours is like a freaking walk in the park. I have never worked a 6 and it is seriously like not working at all. SO easy- flies by. So my first night back was great. It took a while to remember all the little things we do on nights... but hopefully I remembered them and charted decent. I got home a little before 2 am where John greeted me at the door and we had english muffins. :) I guess Olivia woke up sometime between 2 and 7 but John didn't wake me- I woke up to her babbling in her crib though and I don't think she even noticed I was gone that night. :)

Thanks to dad and Sandy I got a little more of a nap in later yesterday so I felt pretty good after that! Olivia went to sleep at 6pm because she was so crabby and never woke up again until midnight. It felt weird not having her up but she must've been exhausted so we just let her sleep. She is such a good girl! Hopefully we can get her bath in tonight before she conks out!

I go back to work in 3 days :(

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

a few more of Madeline

because there are too many cute pictures of Madeline that need to be shared and 10 is such a big birthday! Have a fun day Madeline!!

Happy 10th birthday Madeline!!

Sweet little Madeline, I can't believe you are 10 years old today! 10 years since John and I waited for hours and hours for your arrival! Just like you were there when Olivia was born, I was there when YOU were born! You are the sweetest little girl in the world, and I hope Olivia grows up to be just like you. We love you very much, you are the best niece and cousin in the whole world. Happy 10th birthday Madeline!

Today

Olivia has started doing the cutest thing- she likes to suck on her right hand and rub her hair with her left. I wonder if she will end up twirling her hair when she gets older?! Here she is just waking up from her nap.

After her nap she was still a bit fussy and wanted to be held. It was getting near dinner time so I put her in the moby! I faced her out for the 1st time since she doesn't like to face inward and got more fussy when I tried it. I think I had her in there for about an hour and she did great! She loves to look around and watch what is going on.

Here are some pictures from a little outdoor photo shoot we did yesterday. The sun was out so we had to grab the opportunity! It was close to going down though since we had to wait for O to wake up from her nap. She was in a great mood though!

Not liking her tummy so much...

Ok Ill do it for a minute...

So proud

My big girl is sleeping in her crib tonight!! She took 3 naps in it yesterday. (one loooong 3 hour uninterrupted one!!) She did wake up earlier that usual (at about 1 am after going down at 8pm), but that is still GREAT! She only wakes up briefly to eat her bottle, which she does with her eyes closed, and goes back to bed easily. I never thought the day would come where she would sleep in the crib without waking back up as soon as we set her down (those were some long nights...) Anyway, now the problem is with me sleeping rather than O. Every time I get up now I either never go back to sleep (230 am wake up yesterday) or am up for hours (currently up at 0320 since 0100) John tries to get up with her now since I have such a hard time and she is such a breeze usually to feed now. Tonight he must not have heard her. She wasn't really crying much though. I laid in bed for an hour afterward and finally decided that it wasn't helping just laying there- I might as well look around on the computer! Anyway I just had to share that she is doing better and better in her room!

Violet

Marie gave Olivia a "my pal Violet" for Christmas and it is SO cute! It sings songs, talks to Olivia, and even sings lullaby's. You program it to say Olivia's name, her fave food, color and animal! At this point she obviously doesn't have favorites so I just put in goof ones. It is such a great toy though and I think she will learn a lot from it! The little collar lights up when it talks or sings so she does like looking at it right now!

Why hello there Violet...
Whoa!

Checking Violet out with daddy

Sitting up with a little help from daddy's legs.

Thank you Marie! I know she will really love it and learn a lot from it in the next couple years!

more rolling!

Olivia rolled from her back to her tummy this past Sunday night! (the 17th) She was looking at her monkeys and just slowly made her way over. She didn't love being on her tummy once she was there- I think she was a little confused! First though, here is a picture I took a couple days ago I love of her. The camera takes such pretty pictures in natural light!

Here she is looking at her monkeys, sucking on her hand.

How did I get here?!

What am I doing on my tummy?? I don't like this very much....

She still hasn't rolled again from her tummy to back, but at least she has done them both once so I'm sure that just means it is going to happen more often! I think she would roll more often to her tummy since she turns on to her side so much, but she loves sucking on her hand so it is usually in the way.
Today is SUCH a nice day and John got the day off! We have mostly been cleaning, but it has been fun! Olivia is napping now and has taken 2 good naps today in her crib! I'm sure John thinks she is always like this, but she is definitely getting better! Last night she slept from 8pm until 3am and again until she got up at 7 am! I am so glad she is sleeping better for the most part- that means John will do okay on the nights I am gone. :)
