work work work!

Sorry I haven't updated- been working like crazy! I worked through my 2 day stretch off so I will have worked 8 nights in a row after tomorrow night! Luckily I have a great assignment otherwise I would never make it through!

John's parent are in town to watch Olivia and that has been really nice! Luckily they have a flexible schedule and can help out whenever Dad and Sandy are unable to. We are so thankful that Olivia does not have to go to daycare!

Anyway, Olivia is doing great as always. A happy girl, sleeping through the night, usually eating 3 meals a day and pretty good at napping... Crawling SUPER fast and standing (then walking) on everything! She is so fun to be around just to see her expressions and watch what she does next. She has been making some really funny faces lately! I will try to get some on camera when I get a chance.

Well, I am at work on my 7th night so only 1 more to go and then hopefully I can update this blog a little better! Hope everyone is doing good!

new outfit

Here is Olivia in the outfit I couldn't resist from the gap. Luckily she has a lot of second hand clothes and gifts so I don't end up spending too much $$ on clothes. Baby clothes are just too cute!

a nice stream of drool...

looking over at daddy:

Well I am back to work tonight. Luckily John has the day off again (which is not good as far as $ goes, but good for my sleeping!) I am about to go lay down for a little while. I hope this night goes ok! I think it will get easier and easier to go back once I get into the swing of things. Can you believe Olivia will be 4 months old tomorrow!?

working girl

So I ended up working Wednesday night after first getting a mandatory, then not... then I get there and I am only working 6 hours. woo-hoo! I wasn't going to shoot that option down. 6 hours is like a freaking walk in the park. I have never worked a 6 and it is seriously like not working at all. SO easy- flies by. So my first night back was great. It took a while to remember all the little things we do on nights... but hopefully I remembered them and charted decent. I got home a little before 2 am where John greeted me at the door and we had english muffins. :) I guess Olivia woke up sometime between 2 and 7 but John didn't wake me- I woke up to her babbling in her crib though and I don't think she even noticed I was gone that night. :)

Thanks to dad and Sandy I got a little more of a nap in later yesterday so I felt pretty good after that! Olivia went to sleep at 6pm because she was so crabby and never woke up again until midnight. It felt weird not having her up but she must've been exhausted so we just let her sleep. She is such a good girl! Hopefully we can get her bath in tonight before she conks out!

past few days

Sorry I don't have any new pictures to post. I've taken a few but haven't had the time to upload them. There is nothing much new around here. The days seem to run together with the same old thing, especially since John hasn't had a day off since we got back from Seattle. This has been tough since I look forward to those days being able to share the responsibility of Olivia. I'm sure it is exhausting for John too, in a different way. Hopefully he will have this weekend off since I only have a little over 2 weeks before I go back to work. I can't believe how quickly time has flown by! It will be fun to see all my co-workers, but I think challenging to get back into the swing of working and night shift!

As far as Olivia goes, she still loves jumping in her jumparoo and is getting longer! You can tell by how much her legs bend when jumping on her box. It will be nice when she can actually reach the floor! She also seems like she can *almost* roll from her back to her tummy. She hasn't done this yet, but she rolls onto her side fairly quickly, just hasn't done that extra bit to completely roll over. She also hasn't rolled again from her tummy to her back. I need to do more tummy time with her. Some days she enjoys it longer than others, and I don't like it when she starts to get upset, so I roll her back onto her back when she does that. We also tried having her sleep in her crib last night, but she was back to waking up every hour or more so after we were up 6 times before 11pm, she went back into her carseat. There she slept a little better, but still not great. She sure is a happy wonderful baby most of the time, but not blessed in the sleeping department that is for sure!

back to work

It's official- I will be going back to work the night of January 27th. Yikes! It makes it more real to have an exact day even though it is still quite a bit a way. I don't "officially" have to go back until mid-February, but I think the end of January would make it time and I'm guessing I may have some mandatories I would need to do too since they have been slow while I've been away and I would have the least amount of hours (meaning 1st up) when I go back. They are doing better in the unit though so that is encouraging.

Anyway I will go back slowly which will be nice too. 1 night that week, then 2 nights the next week and then 3 in a row. She should have the schedule out in another week or so, so I will know my schedule through the end of February fairly soon!

work

Well I'm done working now until next year. How weird is that?!? It felt strange this morning knowing that the next time I would be back would be in 2 days to have Olivia. Hopefully she won't be spending too much time in the NICU though! I haven't had a vacation from work since I started there in June 2008, so this will be a big change! I think I am going to miss it (well mostly my co-workers) but I know I will be busy thinking about other things very soon!

I'm glad I got tonight off. That way I can spend my last day without a baby getting a pedicure and making sure I have everything packed and a little more tidy around the house. John is working late tonight, trying to make sure he finishes a big job before Friday!

4 more nights

I had a mandatory night off work last night because we are so slow. I wasn't unhappy about it because I was actually dreading working 3 nights in a row this week. It seems like I've been really lucky the last month and have been working 2 night stretches (though still full time mostly). Those are a lot easier to do when you are 8 months pregnant and not sleeping the greatest! So I called into work last night to make sure I wasn't on call and the night nurse manager asked if I wanted to be taken off the schedule next Wednesday night too. Patrice must have told her about my scheduled section on Friday. I of course said I would love it, because I am also scheduled to work Mon and Tues next week. This way I can actually have all of Thursday to catch up on little things before Olivia comes instead of sleeping the day away. Most importantly I want to get a pedicure! :)

So I go back to work tonight for 2 nights, then 2 off then 2 more on and I am done for several months. How weird is that? It is also a little weird that I told John I think I am going to miss work a little. I'm sure that will quickly fade once Olivia is here.
